PostHeaderIcon Thinning Hair in Females: Types

Hair thinning in women is starting to be common enough that it’s now being referred to as “female pattern hair loss”. This is a fairly all-encompassing term since there are numerous explanations that a woman can lose hair. Male baldness has been easily explained for decades, having its foundation in the habits of a set of hormones called androgens. The androgens are testosterone, androsteinedione, and dihydrotestosterone and are discovered in the woman’s body in much smaller quantities that in men. There are several things that can make a woman shed her hair.

Androgenetic Alopecia.

This is the identical issue that causes male pattern baldness. In females, the hair thinning is spread everywhere on the scalp, while in men there is often a more distinct thinning in one place of the scalp. Androgenetic alopecia takes place when testosterone is exposed to certain enzymes in hair cells and it is transformed in to one of the other androgens, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). If too much of this DHT builds up, the hair follicles reduce in size and the growth cycle of the hair is altered. In women, a lot of of the follicles basically die and others become unable to generate new hair.

Traction Alopecia

This form of hair thinning in females can be induced by hairstyles like plaits and ponytails that pull the hair too much all over the scalp. This traumatizes the hair follicles enough to hinder hair growth. This problem can be repaired by modifying the hairstyle to something less restricting.

Telogen Effluvium.

The hair has three phases in what is known as the growth cycle: the growth phase, the resting phase, and the shedding phase. After the resting phase, the body loses some hair so that new hair growth can occur. Telogen effluvium is a condition that takes place when the body has encountered something so physically traumatic like giving birth, malnutrition, or a bad infection that the majority of of the hair temporarily goes in to the shedding phase. This can last several months to several years providing the stress factors that induced it in the first place are still there.

Anagen Effluvium.

This form of hair thinning happens when the hair follicles endure something that impedes its normal growth activity. A widespread illustration of this is chemotherapy, which can result in 90 percent of the hair to fall out.

Other Brings about of Woman’s Hair loss.

The most frequent reason that females lose hair is due to change in the function of the thyroid brought on by menopause. Other things that can cause hair thinning are changes in the levels of hormones, stress, certain medications, and heredity troubles.
